Both fonts (that used on littlemarie.net and that used for the title of Marie's forthcoming compilation) are indeed somewhat similar, yet, not quite exactly the same one (notice the "r" at once on both sample texts, "Littlemarie.net" and "Tid för tystnad" above)... Wink

I believe the one you use in littlemarie.net is Young Baroque, isn't it Blanca? Smiley

Whereas that from Marie's compilation is, I believe, Duet... Smiley

(The other one on the cover, by the way, looks to be Bank Gothic, just in case anyone may wonder...)

they normally use commercial fonts to keep the "exclusivity". The whole font is different, the a, the s..
Besides that, the font is similar to Gyllene Tider's logo Wink

my fave font is from Äntligen:) The whole cover is great.

I like the cover picture but I think the title looks a bit amateurish, or at least too fast photoshop, let's say I've seen better designs on roxservice (the best designed rox rel website that i know of Grin)
anyway, not marie's fault.

Hahaha!! Laugh
More or less Sweepie!!
The typo is another is "Young Love".

Of course, EMI never would put any font without to buy it before. Never a free font!!!!!.
To buy one typo is not the same of exclusivity, so what i can tell to you Judith about the theme.. Laugh

I really love the cover, so I think the same that you.
It looks a bit amateur. The first time i saw in Ginza, i thought that it will be a fake cover.
So, well, EMI is free to put that they wants in the covers....  Yes! Laugh

you didn't understand it, mind I wrote "exclusivity" into "... They don't want to use a free font that every body has, like Arial that everybody can then "copy", so they buy the fonts, expecting a few people to just be able to afford it or just take the time to search for it and then use it on websites, other self-made covers etc.

I remember when Äntligen was out, only one guy purchased it by then, Simes! It was too expensive to buy it for the rest of us Smiley Does anybody remember?

Sure they are free to choose whatever cover they want to, they did with the horror of One Wish, so what else to expect if budget is low, this is just a compilation which kind of "sells itself", and from which they expect the highest turn over, so they won't spend any cent on layout. Per pays it himself anyway when he asks somebody else to take the pictures / make the layout. EMI is cheap, we all know that, all other serious record companies have graphic designers under their staff ..

<quote>EMI is cheap, we all know that, all other serious record companies have graphic designers under their staff</quote>

Well, Judith... must perhaps somewhat agree with most artists' records. Thank god Per pays for the stuff himself. The artwork to his releases from 2000 and after is superb, one more reason to actually buy them. When looking at Marie's releases, think artwork to Äntligen is fantastic, as is that to The Change. Min bäste vän was also OK.

On the otherhand, the work done for the #A Family Affair-album with Micke as the main (debuting) artist was quite shocking to say the least (esp. when compared with the gorgeous pictures that were taken at the time by (I assume) Pelle Piano. When then also looking at the typos in the text of the booklet, it borders to just looking silly. I do think anyone here on this forum who actually makes a living in graphic design would agree on this.

Let's hope the artwork for Maries new compilation will be back to the 'Äntligen' and 'The Change'-standards at least.

Well... kind of... though also not too similar... Wink (Taking GT's logo to be (some slightly altered/costumized form of) Palace Script; on a closer look over its char-set and Duet's, it doesn't match much, either... Wink)

More or less Sweepie!!
The typo is another is "Young Love".

Hmm, perhaps then they're "a clone" of each other?... Roll Eyes (Sometimes it is the case...)

Then again, since Marcus just mentioned it, "A Family Affair", say, out of curiosity (and pardon the bit off-topic Tongue), I wonder, anyone who happens to know what was the font used on this one (front and back covers)?...  Been trying to id it but in vain so far... Undecided (Yeah, I kinda like fonts, and like id'ing them... Tongue) Any idea by chance?...

What does he pay for? Maybe he pays for the photos, but the artwork to his releases since Mazarin is basically his own handwritting and sketches. I don't think he has to pay for that, has him? Actually, it has started to be boring. Every album should have its own identity and now they look like a serie or different volumes of the same stuff.

I like Per's covers and booklets lately more than the content of the CDs Wink I like the way he uses his fonts and the b/w pictures, I think he even puts the layout himself together, or at least takes care about it. I don't have En händig man so I cannot tell how it looks like though.

I don't know, when I see the last albums I bought, Bon Jovi, Annie Lennox, Melissa Etheridge.. I don't get the feeling of "cheapness" I get with some of Rox + related releases. I like the Rox Box but I think "One Wish" cover just sucks. I haven't found so many typos in other artists CDs as in Roxette&co's! Not to talk about the Rox-DVDs........ But we know what EMI stands for Grin

I must say I like Marie last two albums layout, esp. because of the personal touch. The Change CD is not only the music but the artwork, it is just amazing to look at the cover and listen to the album! Even though I would have prefered Marie would have never done this album. DBV is also nice, actually one of my favourite albums, even though it's not her songs.

I just don't like the font and artwork on this cover, it's just looks like a 15-min work on Photoshop with some shadow and couple of more effects.. ?

Ah well, let's see how it looks as a whole Grin
